Federación surprises travelers by the neat design of its streets and its extensive forestation. It was built in 1979, when the old town was flooded as a result of filling the reservoir Salto Grande. With this event were also drowned a lot of memories and experiences lived by the vast majority of the residents, who today recall with nostalgia.

But nowadays Federación proudly boasts being the first thermal spa in Argentina’s Mesopotamia, when back in 1994 it emerged from a depth of 1260 meters crystalline water, belonging to the aquifer so-called ""Tacuarembó"" or ""Guarani"" ( the same that nourishes the neighboring baths in Uruguay and Brazil). In Federación are flowing 450,000 liters of water per hour at 43 º C constant temperature, with a pressure of nearly 6 kg. per square centimeter.

The modern thermal spa complex has 12 pools that have water from 36 to 40 degrees. There are pools of passive use, for children, with curtains of water, a semi Olympic, a whirlpool… in one word: water for all tastes. The complex is completed with locker rooms, four courtyards of showers springs, countless benches, chairs, umbrellas, covered shelters and playgrounds. It also has nursing and security. Away from the pool sector it has been installed a special site for grills, tables and benches with natural shadow and quinchos.
