SALTA

The city is situated in the beautiful and fertile valley of Lerma, surrounded by hills full of vegetation. The city´s name comes from the Aymara word ""sagta"" which means ""very beautiful"". Hence, this city is known by the nickname ""Salta, La Linda."" And they don’t go wrong about it. Tour the beautiful Plaza 9 de Julio; the Cathedral Basilica of Salta; houses with wooden balconies that imitate the Lima from the period of the viceroys; Cabildo of Salta, that is national monument and historical museum (one of the best preserved government houses of Argentina); all of this is framed by the magnificent hills of the surrounding area, including San Bernardo, that is accessible by cable car.
Can’t miss : Going out at night to the “peñas”, eat a few empanadas (kind of pie) in the “Patio de las Empanadas”, and walk at a slow pace, without any rush, the romantic streets of Salta, lost in colonial times.
