TIGRE

The port town of Tigre is unique in the entire country. A group of neighboring islands to the city form what is known as the Parana River Delta, or simply ""The Delta"". It is an alluvial basin, from 100,000 years old, formed by sediment deposited over the years by the Parana River. It occupies an area of 19,000 km2 and is made up of about 350 rivers, streams and canals. The islands are moving about 50 meters per year toward the Atlantic Ocean, and it is estimated that in the year 2200 the delta would reach to the current locations of Vicente Lopez and Nuñez.

Since the beginning of the century water sports are practiced here, and today you can see the exclusive and distinguished boating clubs in the margin of the rivers, with their own way to descend boats to the water.

Nowadays is a traditional walk on weekends, and since a few years ago it is in full growth and modernization. There is a mass transit system with about 50 boats with capacity for 100 passengers each, mostly with header at the Tigre River Station. In addition there are a dozen catamarans, boats and excursion boats exclusively devoted to tour the Delta full of tourist.

Apart from the boat rides through the rivers; one of the biggest attractions is the Puerto de Frutos (Fruit Port), which brings together the artisans of the islands to offer their products. This colorful market is no stranger to globalization, and the products of the islands have been gradually supplemented by imported products.
