VILLA PEHUENIA

It´s a snow park emerged from the initiative of the Mapuche Puel group, it is located on lands of their domain, including the volcano North Batea Mahuida, a formidable summit that contains a lagoon, and that is barely five kilometers from Villa Pehuenia, near the international passage of Icalma.

The lands where the snow park is settled are of remarkable beauty. The view of the Aluminé Lake and Moquehue mark the horizontal landscape. From the top of the Batea Mahuida, you can see the Bio Bio in Chile and also the lake of Icalma. The vertical view of the volcanoes Lanin, Villarrica, Quetrupillan, Llaima and Lonquimay show their majesty to the visitor.

At the base of the park, the smoke from the kitchen of the shelter denotes human activity. The menu that are going to have skiers there is as special as the landscape and Mapuche culture from which was born the initiative of the project: boiled pehuén piñon, fried cakes, mate, salty pies, homemade bread, and regional jam.

In front of this shelter, rises up the mast that was donated by Gendarmerie with the flag flying on top. Meanwhile, in the coastal strip of Lake Aluminé, Villa Pehuenia expects tourists and skiers, with all the warmth and comfort of their cabins and inns, restaurants and complementary tourist services.

It is one of the cheaper alternatives to skiing in our country. At the foot of the hill there is no accommodation, but it can be found at Villa Pehuenia excellent quality inns for $20 per person.
